JAN KOHRT

Drummer

Influences

On early stages I was nspired by classic rock music. The British rock band Queen and of course drummer Roger Taylor had a huge impact on me. A friend of mine showed me a video of Gavin Harrison when I was 15 or 16 years old and I was absolutely blown away and since then, Gavin has had a massive influence on my playing and on my way of approaching music.

Besides Gavin Harrison there are many other drummers I feel inspired by such as Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Judd, Thomas Haake, Simon Phillips, Mike Portnoy, Benny Greb and Mike Mangini.

Very important bands for me are Porcupine Tree, The Pineapple Thief, Tool, Katatonia, Karnivool, Meshuggah, Dream Theater, Primus and many others.

"I listen to a lot of music of many different genres, when the music feels and sounds good and I can make a connection to it, I will probably like it".
